Olympian Sherone Simpson

NEW YORK, NY. Friday, October 9, 2020 - The virtual event is expected to garner widespread support with participants able to sign up from anywhere across the USA, the Caribbean and indeed, globally.

Once registered, participants have approximately two weeks from October 9-24, 2020, to complete their run or walk and upload their time using the Strava APP which can be downloaded from the Apple or Google Play Store.

Two lucky runners will be awarded automatic entry to the Reggae Marathon, which will be held virtually this year. There will also be ten prizes, awarded to five males and five females. The announcement of these prizes will take place on Sunday October 25, 2020 at 12 noon, and will be streamed live on Jamaicans.com, on TJB’s Facebook Page and its other Social Media Platforms.

Registration is now open at https://events.elitefeats.com/bickle20.

The TJB 5K Run/Walk seeks to promote healthy lifestyles amongst all age groups within our various communities. The funds raised will support TJB’s programs, mainly its hospitality services which include the provision of meals, transportation, accommodations and medical care for Caribbean athletes participating at the annual Penn Relays Carnival at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.

The organization also embarked on a Defibrillator to Schools program approximately six years ago ensuring that these life-saving devices are available to athletes participating in sports at high schools in Jamaica.

The inaugural Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB) 5K Run/Walk was held in conjunction with Awesome Power Track Club on October 15, 2011, at Baisley Park in Queens County, New York. For 2020, the event is being staged virtually due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Olympian Sherone Simpson is the patron of the event.
