CARIBBEAN AMBASSADORS TO DISCUSS COVID-19 IMPACT AT ZOOM TOWN HALL

Boston, MA, September 12, 2020/CMM…The Authentic Caribbean Foundation (ACF), will present Part 3 of its Caribbean Covid-19 Update discussion forum featuring Ambassadors of several Caribbean Countries as well as Diaspora leaders. The Zoom Town Hall will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 5.00 pm, and will be streamed live on various platforms including, the Authentic Caribbean Facebook Page as well as on its Instagram Page, Authentic Foundation.

The town hall will provide the Diaspora with updates on the impact of COVID-19 across the Caribbean; discuss the reopening of borders, the Caribbean economy and the future of tourism and the Diaspora involvement. Several Caribbean countries have seen a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases over the past weeks since the reopening of their borders.

The Opening Plenary will be led by Dr. Claire Nelson, President-Institute of Caribbean Studies, Washington D.C., and Andrew Sharpe, ACF President,  who will also host the panel. He will be joined by Co-host, Lesley Ells. Moderating the panel will be Ms. Lisa Harper, ACF.

October 29, 2020 --- The Awards Ceremony to announce the winners of the recently held Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB) Inaugural Virtual 5K Run/Walk, was held on Sunday October 25, 2020. The organization which had since 2011 held its annual 5K Run/Walk at Baisley Pond Park, Queens New York (NY) made the transition to the virtual space this year due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Water problem in St Ann. A letter to the editor.

Dear Editor,            I am writing to Mr. Ian Bell and Lisa Hanna, to say that Fern Gully has been a top tourist attraction in Jamaica even before either you or I were born. However, the gully will continue to decline as a tourist attraction if water problems persists in the surrounding communities of Colgate and Breadnut Hill.  From as far back as 1989, when my grandfather died, water has been a big problem for these two districts; the pump-house in Terry needs a modern pump and pipes, capable of increasing water capacity.  The National Water Commission (NWC) continues to do too little, if anything, to improve the existing system. Having no access to a well-developed piped water system, the residents of these communities seek work in Fern Gully, clearing the lush green vegetation in hopes of starting small businesses which seldom result in gainful employment.  An investment in supplying effective piped water to these communities will simultaneously reduce the stress on
